Take a little bit of time to click around this sight. Dave can give you an in-person demo on how to use the sight if you want. For more help on anything not covered here, try the wordpress FAQ.
First thing’s first: Log In
You can read the blog and make comments without logging in but you have to log in to post updates. Dave will send you the log in and password. The left hand column of the pages says log in at the top, just click on that. Or click here
Posting
The main way to use the sight is by posting up dates. Once you’ve logged in, just click New Post up at the top! The posting page works much like gmail. You can format text and insert photos or other media. Play around with this. When you’re done, hit the PUBLISH button on the right-hand column; this is the equivalent of “Send” on email. It will then post to the blog.
A couple more notes on posting. First, before you post, choose what category best fits the subject of your post. Categories are at the bottom of the posting page. This will make it easier for folks to find this information. If none of the categories fit your subject, either choose UNCATEGORIZED or you can add a new topic.
Finally, if you don’t want to publish your post right away, just hit the SAVE button. You can reopen the post later from the Dashboard (see Dashboard section below).
Commenting
If you want to comment on a posting directly, click the title of the posting and enter what you want where it says “Leave a Reply.”
The Dashboard
This is actually the most useful way to use the site. Once logging in, click “My Dashboard” at the very top of the browser window.
Not only can you easily post on here, you can edit old posts, add links to the link bar and even write new pages like this one. Briefly, the best way to use this is through the “Write” tab (which lets you write new content) and the “Manage” tab (which allows you to edit, publish, or delete all ready written content).
To view all the posts on the sight, click the “Manage” tab and then the “Posts” tab below that. Here it operates essentially like an email inbox, listing the posting Title and Date. You can use the Filter feature at the top, or the Search bar up at the top right to find specific messages.
Writing a new post can be done on the “Write” tab and, again, “Posts”.
To exit the Dashboard click the “Visit Site” button up by the blog title Office Of College Wide Events
